HR Internal Investigations 2025

Our Portugues member Paramount Legal had the pleasure of contributing to the first edition of Chambers and Partners’ “HR Internal Investigations Global Practice 2025” guide that features the latest legal developments in this field across almost 20 key jurisdictions.

Manuel Ferreira Mendes and Ana Rita Carmo were responsible for the chapter on Portugal, where they explored various issues relating to pre-investigation procedures, including responsibilities, rights and obligations of the employee-defendant, evidence and decisions.

Internal investigations in companies are a subject that has become increasingly important in recent years, given the complexity they so often entail – as they involve issues such as whistleblowing, the protection of personal data and harassment at work – and the associated reputational risks.

Over the last few years, the Paramount Legal team has taken part in a number of corporate investigations.
